MODUS X Presented Its Experience in Implementing a Hybrid Multicloud for the DTEK Group at the IT ICS Summit 2025

Last week, Kyiv hosted the IT Infrastructure, Cloud & Security Summit 2025, one of the key industry events that brought together CIOs, CISOs, digital transformation experts, IT infrastructure and cloud solutions leaders, and leading technology vendors.

As part of the summit, Denys Harkavyi, Head of Infrastructure at MODUS X, presented the case study “Experience in Implementing a Hybrid Multicloud: The Case of the DTEK Group.”

Business and IT Challenges

The team faced the task of ensuring business continuity and IT resilience, complying with regulatory requirements, and minimizing global risks. The key challenges included:

  • selecting the optimal model combining an in-house data center with clouds from different providers;
  • migrating more than 200 IT services under critical conditions;
  • ensuring seamless collaboration with multiple providers.

Solution

The team selected a hybrid hyperconverged cloud model based on VMware Cloud Foundation, combining an in-house data center with Azure VMware Solutions and VMware on AWS. The solution provides redundancy for critical services across different provider infrastructures, as well as flexibility and access to modern cloud technologies.

To ensure network security, Check Point CloudGuard was implemented, providing centralized network policy management across the multicloud environment.

Results

  • The core infrastructure was deployed in 3 days during wartime.
  • More than 300 TB of data was migrated.
  • The migration covered 117 services.
  • Resilience and security were enhanced through a unified management console and centralized traffic control.

Business Benefits

The hybrid multicloud enabled compliance with regulatory requirements, competitive costs, a high level of reliability, and a low Time to Value. The solution proved its effectiveness in crisis conditions and became an important milestone in the digital transformation of the DTEK Group.

“During wartime, business continuity and IT resilience become top priorities. Our experience has demonstrated that a multicloud model makes it possible to combine the reliability of in-house infrastructure with the flexibility of global providers, delivering maximum efficiency and security for the business. Multicloud is our new reality and a strategy for ensuring resilience and flexibility,” said Denys Harkavyi.
