MODUS X CEO Dmytro Osyka on transforming DTEK’s IT into an IT company, the role of AI, and war-related challenges in an interview with Liga.net

MODUS X transformation and market expansion

In an interview with Liga.net, MODUS X CEO Dmytro Osyka shared practical insights into the transformation of DTEK’s internal IT department into a separate IT company, as well as key management decisions, the development of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the product approach, and operating during a full-scale war.

MODUS X was legally spun off at the end of 2022, and in 2024, after developing its strategy and operating model, the company entered the external market. Based on the results of 2025, MODUS X demonstrated revenue growth and, for the second consecutive year, topped Forbes’ ranking of IT subsidiaries of large companies by revenue.

“We did not build the company from scratch. This was about changing the management model, strategy, and operating approach, not about major additional investments,” Dmytro Osyka noted.

The most challenging stage — a mindset shift

In the interview, he emphasizes that the main challenge of the transformation was not technology, but changing the team’s mindset, entering a highly competitive market, and adapting to a different pace of decision-making.

“The most difficult part was not the technical transformation, but the mindset shift. In the external market, the rule is ‘here and now’: if you are too late, you lose the client,” the MODUS X CEO stressed.

Artificial intelligence and the Quantum program

A separate part of the conversation was devoted to the use of artificial intelligence. According to Dmytro Osyka, AI is already delivering tangible economic impact for the company — from logistics optimization and electricity generation forecasting to preventing equipment downtime and accelerating software development.

“Overall, artificial intelligence is already helping us save up to 50% of the time spent on various tasks. The next step is to scale this approach across all company processes,” he said.

To achieve this, MODUS X is launching the Quantum program, aimed at deeply integrating AI into operational, technical, and management processes in 2026.

Digitalization, war, and partnerships

To achieve this, MODUS X is launching the Quantum program, aimed at deeply integrating AI into operational, technical, and management processes in 2026.

The interview also covers digitalization during wartime, the cyber resilience of energy infrastructure, product strategy, the development of partnerships with global technology companies, and collaboration with Ukrainian and international clients.

“War forces us to be highly pragmatic. We continue digitalization where it delivers real impact and strengthens business resilience,” Dmytro Osyka emphasized.
