Adapting to new working conditions, such as the shift to remote working, requires strengthening corporate security, where multi-factor authentication plays a key role.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a method of identifying an individual that involves the use of multiple levels of verification to confirm a user’s identity before granting them access to virtual or physical resources. This process requires the user to provide several authentication factors, such as a passcode, a mobile phone or fingerprints, before access is granted.
MFA significantly enhances system security by making unauthorised access more difficult: even if one of the authenticators is compromised, access to the protected resource remains secure, requiring additional forms of verification.
DTEK needed to strengthen the security of its user accounts: the number of cyberattacks on its IT systems was on the rise, and the company was using outdated account security measures that had not been properly optimised and were updated only sporadically.
The company’s main objective was to implement a solution that would enable staff to access a range of IT services via MFA: Microsoft 365, business applications (SAP, Salesforce) and on-premises applications within a virtualised infrastructure. The introduction of multi-factor authentication marked a significant step towards strengthening DTEK’s information security, providing additional protection for over 20,000 user accounts.
